The Shortridge Daily Echo is a place for students to publish articles about not only their school and the events transpiring there, but also in their communities, and the world at large. First brought to life in 1898, the Daily Echo seeks to recognize news; local, global, and otherwise, from a new perspective, the students. These scholars make up the next generation of our society, and they need to make their voices heard in order to impact their communities for the better.
The Learner Profiles of the International Baccalaureate are clearly demonstrated by the work of these committed scholars, and a history of student collaboration is honored by these young men and women with the time they spend reviving something so immense for Shortridge’s history as having the nation’s first daily high school news publication.
Stick around and see what else happens at Shortridge, in the community, and the world at large by keeping up with The Shortridge Daily Echo. This is where you’ll be able to get students’ views of everything, from the social and political issues affecting the global community, to figuring out how to survive and thrive in the International Baccalaureate Programme. Students that join and contribute regularly to this site may also be inducted in Shortridge’s journalistic Quill and Scroll Honor Society.
We’ll also be bringing weekly polls for your entertainment, as well as sports scores as provided by MaxPreps! Also, remember to check out Shortridge’s website for more updates on school events and opportunities available to our scholars. Don’t forget to share your own talents via submissions by either email, or even leaving us suggestions through our website’s Submit a Letter page! And leave comments! The Shortridge Daily Echo staff loves to hear what the community has to say.
